Director, Writing Across the Curriculum, University of Virginia. Charlottesville, VA. (Fall 2023–Present)
Associate Director (Fall 2019–Summer 2023)
• Charged with “enhancing the culture of writing across UVA,” using up-to-date research in writing pedagogy and faculty support, primarily using Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) frameworks for strategic program development.
• Work with institution-wide committees and offices to foster effective and satisfying writing practices that work with individual programs and Schools, while also coordinating with the university as a whole.
• Work with the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics to conduct assessments of student writing across disciplines, in individual courses and as part of larger programmatic evaluations.
• Design and administer customized workshops on writing as an instructional tool in content courses across the university.
• Present regularly to senior leadership and faculty in each School and across the College regarding ongoing writing work within their units.
•. Administer the annual Faculty Seminar on the Teaching of Writing and the bi-annual Graduate Instructor Seminar in the Teaching of Writing, training faculty and graduate students across disciplines in best practices for writing instruction in content courses.
•. Meet regularly with faculty (individually and in small groups) for course and/or curriculum development.
